Home From Home

Your 6M bell tent includes a cosy king sized bed and an additional 3 single camp beds can be added to accommodate families.

You have a wood burning stove, comfortable seats and ground cushions to help you relax both inside or outside the tent. A private toilet with a hot running shower & towels is located just beside your fully equipped kitchen with a gas hob. Outdoor cooking options are on the wood power flat plate or toasted marshmallows in the frames of the campfire. An outdoor dining table will allow you to soak in the views over dinner.

Location

Hay Field Hideout is based on Adam's Award winning Family Farm. 98 acres in total, the farm has a lovely balance of hay meadows, cereal crops, wildflower meadows, woodland, livestock & pets, with a mission to protect the wildlife which calls it home. You may notice during your stay that bird boxes and RSPB plaques outnumber humans 3 to 1.

Set within the Strangford and Lecale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the whole region is a sight for sore eyes, but nowhere more so than from the top of the hill close to your tent. Here you are given an astonishing 360° panoramic view of the Mourne Mountains, drumlin landscape, the patchwork quilt of surrounding farmland and glimpses of the Irish Sea & Isle of man.

The closest town to Hay Field Hideout is Downpatrick, famed for its links to Saint Patrick. Downpatrick boasts lots of amenities including: supermarkets, restaurants, bars, coffee shops, many small independent retailers, a leisure facility, cinema, hospital (hopefully n/a), tourist information office and museum.

Dog Friendly

You are more than welcome to bring your 4 legged friend (more like family member, let's be honest!) with you to Hay Field Hideout. We don't charge extra for this service, however we do ask that you make sure they don't damage or dirty the accommodation. Bringing a dog towel to wipe damp paws and coats prior to them entering the tent will help with this.

Your accommodation is set within a fenced field so dogs can roam freely in there. When out walking around the farm please ensure that a lead is used at all times.

We provide a water bowl and tethering ground stake (if you'd prefer to keep your dog close by) otherwise we ask you to bring your own food bowls, poo bags, dog beds and blankets.

There are loads of beaches, walks and dog friendly cafes/restaurants locally for you to enjoy together, some of these are highlighted in the guest information pack within the accommodation, but don't hesitate to ask for more.

"Thank you for such a lovely stay here at the Hideout. The Tent and Kitchen area were so well equipped and cosy making it easy for us to feel right at home. We got out and explored some of the wonderful things South Down has to offer. It was lovely to come back to the tent and light a fire and cosy up again. We hope to be back again soon"
